Buttock Contouring in NJ
Dr. Evdokimow

Although concepts of beauty have changed over the years, several traits remain as standards of an attractive physique: firm skin and smooth, slim contours. Thigh and buttocks problems result form age, pregnancy, sun damage and massive weight gain and loss. Genetically weak support tissue and child obesity are common factors of premature loss of skin tone. Fat deposits prevent normal adherence of the skin and the musculoskeletal structures. The gravitational forces lead to collapse of the surface tissue and development of gravitational cellulite. The increased number of patients undergoing weight loss surgery has attracted a new category of prospective plastic surgery New Jersey patients to our practice seeking thigh and buttock rejuvenation and other body contouring procedures.

To learn more about buttock contouring in New Jersey, you can request your consultation online or call Dr. Evdokimow's offices at 908-221-1136. We serve men and women from New Jersey, New York and the rest of the country.

Before the Procedure

The best New York / New Jersey butt lift candidates are healthy, fit people who are at a normal weight and have a healthy diet but have exercise-resistant fat deposits and stretch-damaged skin. The buttock contouring procedure can also help slightly overweight people, especially after massive weight loss. Usually the buttock problems are narrowed down to the following:

1. Loss of volume of the buttock area
2. Soft tissue sagging
3. Exercise-resistant fat deposits
4. Genetically small buttocks
5. Combination of skin sagging and fat deposits

During your consultation, our leading New Jersey buttock contouring surgeon Dr. Evdokimow will listen to your concerns and perform a physical exam to identify the problem. The skin quality and deposits of exercise-resistant fat will be examined. Patients who have lost a massive amount of weight typically have skin laxity and fat deposits in the lower body. Through his discussion with you, Dr. Evdokimow will help you set realistic expectations about what the procedure can accomplish.

Smoking cessation is recommended for at least three months before the surgery to avoid wound-healing complications and other problems associated with the use of tobacco.

In massive weight loss patients, the underlying malnutrition should be corrected prior to surgery.

Buttock contouring is often combined with other body contouring procedures such as a thigh lift, liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast lift and breast reduction.

The Procedure

Buttock contouring is usually performed under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgery center. The patient can go home the same day. In cases where the buttock contouring is combined with other body contouring procedures, specifically in massive weight loss patients, hospitalization may be required.

Surgical Approaches for Buttock Contouring

The buttock area is treated through numerous surgical approaches, depending on individual anatomy. In patients with good skin tone and exercise-resident fat deposits, liposuction alone can give the desired improvement. In massive weight loss patients, the buttock area is often part of more complex lower body lift procedures. Through this approach, the buttock tissue is mobilized, lifted and secured superiorly, thereby resulting in a longer-lasting anti-gravitational effect than excision. Incisions are placed in the gluteal fold (crease between the buttock and the thigh).

In cases of volume loss, congenitally small buttocks or individual perception of small gluteal area, buttock contouring is achieved with the help of structural fat grafts (also know as fat injections or Brazilian buttock lift) and buttock implants.

Fat injections require availability of adequate amount of donor tissue. The most common donor site is the abdomen, followed by the flanks and other areas of the torso. Thin people usually have less than the required amount for adequate donor tissues and may be better candidates for butt implants.

Buttock implants are available in different sizes and shapes and are a predictable way to enhance the buttocks. They are made of solid silicon, eliminating the risk of implant leak. The implants are placed trough a small incision of the superior gluteal crease, leaving a well-hidden surgical scar.

Minimally Invasive Options for Buttock Rejuvenation

Minimal laxity of the thigh skin can be corrected with Ultherapy. Trough minimal reduction of the subcutaneous soft tissue and tightening of the skin, Ultherapy can improve the contour of the buttocks. The best result is observed in the areas around the gluteal fold. This is off-label use of the equipment. Proper patient selection is key for success. Another less invasive treatment option is fat transfer in NJ. To learn about this procedure, please visit the respective page.

Combination Procedures

Depending on the individual anatomy, combination procedures can be used to achieve the desired surgical outcome. For example, buttock lift with implant or fat injections combined with liposuction of the neighboring area helps to maintain optimal body proportions and gives superior outcomes.

After Surgery

The recovery from buttock contouring is dependent on the surgical approach. In the early postoperative period, absorption of fat can occur after fat injections, leading to suboptimal augmentation and/or asymmetries requiring secondary fat grafting. Compression garments are used after liposuction and fat injections. The bruising subsides within a few days, and the postoperative pain is easily controllable. Difficulty sitting down can be experienced during the first week.
