Injectable Fillers in New Jersey
Sculptra, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse
Full facial features and smooth skin are essential for a youthful-looking face. The good news is that they don't have to be exclusive to the very young. Many men and women from their 30s and up have discovered that there's a single treatment that can both restore volume and reduce wrinkles for a younger appearance. The treatment: injectable fillers such as Sculptra Aesthetic, Juvederm Injectable Gel, Radiesse and Restylane. In New Jersey Dr. David Evdokimow has the skill and experience to use these versatile fillers to accomplish your aesthetic goals.
You can request your consultation online or by calling our offices at 908-221-1136. As one of the more experienced New Jersey Sculptra, Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane providers, Dr. Evdokimow has treated numerous men and women from New Jersey, New York and the rest of the country.
Why Injectable Fillers?
One of the most prominent signs of aging is the loss of facial volume. This begins as early as age 20 and affects all facial planes, but especially the deep layer of the dermis. Combined with the effects of gravity and sun damage (which decrease the elasticity of the skin, leading to the development of furrows and creases), loss of volume of the fat compartments can cause the face to look "deflated" and aged. Today, the principle of volume restoration is one of the most important concepts in facial plastic surgery.
Versatile as they may be, injectable fillers can't do everything. For dynamic wrinkles like frown lines and crow's feet, it may be more effective to receive periodic injections of Botox in New Jersey. It's also important to recognize that fillers can provide only a temporary improvement. If you're looking for permanent results, you may want to consider a surgical procedure, such as a face lift, eyelid surgery, or a brow lift.
Your Options
Concerns that can be treated with injectable fillers include: frown lines, crow's feet, deep-set eyes or "hollow" upper eyelids, hollows under the eyes, cheek augmentation, nasolabial folds, lip augmentation, lip border definition, smoker's lines, marionette lines, jowls, and depressed scars. It can even provide a temporary "brow lift" or chin augmentation.
Originally, collagen-based products dominated the market. However, most physicians have discontinued their use because they did not last for very long and were animal-based so they required skin testing to avoid allergic reactions. Liquid silicone injections were also popular in the past. However, there was a demonstrated increased risk of granuloma formation and migration to distant sites. In fact, there are proposals to forbid its use in many states. Although unqualified practitioners continue the use of silicone, it is something patients should avoid.
Now, fillers made with hyaluronic acid (HA) are seeing widespread popularity. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally existing substance already found in the human body. It adds volume and hydration to the skin. When HA is injected into the deeper layers of the skin, it stimulates the fibroblasts (collagen-producing cells) to produce more collagen. Initially, several procedures may be necessary; however, the volume required to produce the same result may decreases with repetitive use.

Results and Touch-Ups
The duration of results depends upon the filler used, the anatomic area and the individual qualities.
- HA fillers such as Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm usually last 6 to 10 months when used to fill wrinkles and 4 to 6 months when used for lip augmentation. The treatment should be repeated for continued improvement.
- Results of Radiesse initially last up to 18 months. Treatment should be repeated about every 10 to 12 months.
- Sculptra has been shown to last up to 2 years. Touch-up injections may be required.
Treatment with injectable fillers is frequently combined with other non-surgical treatments, such as Botox and Dysport. Injectable fillers are sometimes also combined with surgical procedures (such as a brow lift, blepharoplasty and facelift) and cosmetic laser procedures (such as laser skin rejuvenation or laser scar removal). In fact, many patients seeking a skilled cosmetic surgeon in New Jersey choose Dr. Evdokimow because he is experienced in both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques.
Choose a Qualified Physician
The most common question we hear from our patients is: "Am I going to have a natural look after the procedure?" This is an important concern and the answer is simple: Yes, if you choose a skilled and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, you can ensure that your results will look natural.
You'd be surprised by how many unqualified physicians are performing this procedure. The accessibility of injectable fillers and the supposed "simplicity" of injections have attracted the attention of many physicians without the necessary education and experience. The absence of state regulations for training and qualifications further aggravates the problem. In fact, statistics show that less than half of all plastic surgery procedures are performed by board-certified plastic surgeons. Instead, medical spas and "aesthetic surgeons" are performing the procedures, usually after a week-long or even shorter course on how to inject.
There are many things that a qualified, board-certified plastic surgeon will understand that other practitioners will not. For example, understanding the advantages and disadvantages of one filler compared to another as well as their limitations is essential to achieving optimal results and limiting adverse reactions. Also, plastic surgeons will have a much better understanding of the complexity of facial anatomy.
Ultimately, it comes down to each New Jersey Sculptra, Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane patient. It is each patient's responsibility to check the credentials of his or her physician and to make an educated choice. Don't be fooled by a fancy Web site or grandiose claims. Don't wait until you have complications to understand the importance of choosing a qualified physician.
